The Kerem Tunnel, the first cycle tunnel in Israel is now open as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem, Israel’s capital city. The tunnel connects the path between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The southern entrance is within Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entrance, Nahal Ein Kerem, is about half a kilometer away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.

Elkin’s Ministry, Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25,000,000 to the project. The project was executed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Current projects include road construction, installation blowers and advanced safety equipment to ensure the tunnel is safe for all to use throughout the year.

The Kerem Tunnel allows for access to unique recreational areas, for instance Ein Kerem, a neighborhood which includes a Biblical aquarium and zoo as well as ancient natural springs Ein Haniyeh and Ein Laban.
