The Kerem Tunnel allows for a unique hiking and riding experience.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s first cycle tunnel, was inaugurated as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycle path surrounds Jerusalem.
The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. It has a southern entrance within Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the nearest. נווה פריצקי Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.
The tunnel’s official opening ceremony that is 2.1 kilometers long took place in Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin, Mayor Moshelion and Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman) as well as a plethora of cyclists.

Elkin’s Ministry and the Tourism Ministry budgeted the project.
Elkin said that the Kerem Tunnel project was a key tool in realizing the goal of altering the way of transportation throughout Jerusalem. “The new tunnel, which connects with the Jerusalem Ring Path, will join the existing cycle paths in the city and will be paved within its diverse neighborhoods. It’s designed to encourage bicycle riding among its residents, and promote a green transportation revolution in Jerusalem.”
נווה פריצקי The Kerem Tunnel first was excavated in the 90s to move the main sewer line of the Gihon Corporation towards Sorek. It is currently used as an infrastructure tunnel that includes the fifth waterline to Jerusalem from the Mekorot water corporation.
