In the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that runs around the capital, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.
The tunnel is located through the Nahal-Refaim-Emek-Motza route. Its southern entrance is located below Ein Laban in Refaim Park. The northern entrance is found in Nahal Ein Kerem.
On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin, Mayor Michael, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman, and hundreds of cyclists were present at a celebration to officially open the tunnel’s 2.1-kilometer-long length.

The current works include road construction, installation blowers, and sophisticated security systems to ensure the tunnel is secure to use all year.
The Kerem Tunnel also allows access to special recreation areas which include the Ein Kerem neighborhood, the biblical zoo and aquarium and the historical natural springs of Ein Laban and Ein Haniyeh.
