The Kerem Tunnel allows for a unique hiking and riding experience.
The Kerem Tunnel, the first cycle tunnel in Israel is now open as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle route that circles the capital city.
The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. The tunnel’s southern entrance can be found in Refaim Park below Ein Laban. The northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem about half an hour from the Kerem junction.
The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel project was officially inaugurated at a formal ceremony held on Thursday that was attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov as well as hundreds of cyclists.

The project was funded by the Elkin’s department as well as the Tourism Ministry. It also included budgets for the Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The work was carried out by the Jerusalem Development Authority.
