The Kerem Tunnel, the first bicycle tunnel in Israel, has been inaugurated as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle route that circles the capital city.
The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The tunnel’s southern entrance is located in Refaim Park below Ein Laban. The northern entrance can be found in Nahal Ein Kerem about half an hour from the Kerem junction.

The Kerem Tunnel was originally excavated in 1990 in order to transfer the main sewers of Gihon Corporation towards the Sorek purification facility. This plant is west of Sorek and is still used as an infrastructure tunnel.

The work currently in progress includes road construction, installation of blowers and advanced security and electrical systems to ensure the tunnel is safe for pedestrians to travel through at all times of the year.
