The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s newest bicycle tunnel, has been inaugurated as part of a 42-kilometer cycle route that runs through the capital.
נווה פריצקי The tunnel is a link between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The tunnel’s southern entrance can be found within Refaim Park below Ein Laban. נווה פריצקי The northern entrance can be found in Nahal Ein Kerem about half an hour away from the Kerem junction.
The 2.1-kilometer-long tunnel was officially inaugurated by Jerusalem’s Heritage Minister ZeevElkin. It was also attended by Mayor Moshelion Avi Balehnikov Gihon Water Company Chairman, as well as many cyclists.

The project was funded by the Elkin’s department as well as the Tourism Ministry. It also included budgets for the Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The work was carried out by the Jerusalem Development Authority.
Elkin stated that the Kerem Tunnel project was a key tool in realizing the dream of altering the way of transport throughout Jerusalem. Elkin said that the new tunnel will connect to the Jerusalem Ring Path and will connect with existing bike trails. The tunnel will also be paved in its different areas. The tunnel will be a great way to help cyclists and promote green transport in Jerusalem.

The current works include road construction, installation blowers, and advanced safety systems to ensure that the tunnel is safe for all to use during the entire year.
