The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s newest cycle tunnel, is constructed as a part of a 42-kilometer cycle route that is a loop around the capital.
The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. The tunnel’s southern entrance is below Ein Laban in Refaim Park. The northern entrance can be located in Nahal Ein Kerem.
The 2.1-kilometer long tunnel was inaugurated on Thursday, by Jerusalem and heritage minister Ze’ev Elkin as well as Mayor Moshe Lion. Avi Baleshnikov of Gihon the chairman of Gihon as well as a multitude of cyclists also attended.

The work currently in progress includes road construction, the installation of blowers as well as modern safety and electrical systems in order to ensure that the tunnel is secure for people to walk through all year round.
