The Kerem Tunnel, the first cycle tunnel in Israel was opened as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem, the capital city.

Jerusalem was once a popular tourist attraction due to its rich past. Elkin explained that today along with its historical treasures, the tunnel project also encompasses modern day tourism. “The launch of the tunnel project is another milestone in the advancement of Jerusalem as a tourism destination for all kinds of travelers in Israel and all over the world.”
