The Kerem Tunnel allows for a unique hiking and riding experience.
נווה פריצקי In the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem’s capital, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.
The tunnel is located along the Nahal Refaim-Emek Mostza path. Its southern entry is located within Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entry, Nahal Ein Kerem, is just half a kilometer away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.
Inauguration of the tunnel, which is 2.1 kilometers long, was held in Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman of the company) along with hundreds of cyclists.

Around NIS 25 million was put into in the project, budgeted by Elkin’s ministry, the Tourism Ministry, the Jerusalem Municipality, the Gihon Corporation and the Jerusalem Purification and Sewerage Works, with the work carried out by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

The Kerem Tunnel was first excavated in the late 1990s to relocate the main sewer line of the Gihon Corporation toward the purification plant in Sorek The Sorek Tunnel is located to the west of the city. It is currently being used as an infrastructure tunnel that also houses the fifth water line to Jerusalem of the Mekorot water company.

Road construction, installation, blowers, sophisticated safety systems and electrical wiring are all part and parcel of the ongoing work. The tunnel will be safe for people to use all year.
It is also possible to use the Kerem Tunnel to enjoy unique recreation spots, including Ein Kerem, the Biblical Zoo, aquarium, and the Ein Kerem neighborhood.
