The Kerem Tunnel is a great location to go on a hike or ride.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s first bicycle tunnel, was opened as part of Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycle path surrounds Jerusalem.
The tunnel links the paths between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. Its southern entrance is located in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban and its northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem, about half a mile from the Kerem junction.
On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin and Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman, and a slew of cyclists were present at a celebration to mark the opening of the tunnel’s 2.1-kilometer-long length.
Jerusalem was a popular tourist destination because of its rich historical. Elkin added that in addition to its historic treasures, modern tourism is also included in the Jerusalem city. “The inauguration (of [this] tunnel project is an additional part of the expansion of Jerusalem as well as it’s transformation into a sought-after tourist destination for all kinds of audiences in Israel and around the world.”

Elkin’s Ministerial, Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25 million for the project. נווה פריצקי The project was executed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.
Elkin said that the Kerem Tunnel project is an crucial tool to realize the vision to change the way of thinking and transport throughout Jerusalem. Construction of roads, the installation and testing of electrical and safety systems are some of the ongoing efforts to ensure the tunnel is safe throughout the year.
The Kerem Tunnel gives you access to many recreation sites, including Ein Kerem Neighborhood, the Biblical Zoo and Aquarium as well as historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh or Ein Laban.
