As part of the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that runs around the capital city, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel project was inaugurated during a celebration on Thursday attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov and hundreds of cyclists.
Jerusalem was a sought-after tourist destination because of its glorious past. Elkin said that apart from its historic treasures the modern tourist industry is included in the Jerusalem city. “The opening of this tunnel project is a further part of the growth of Jerusalem’s city Jerusalem and its transformation into a desirable tourist destination for all kinds of audiences in Israel and around the globe.”
