נווה פריצקי The Kerem Tunnel is the first bike tunnel in Israel and was officially opened in the year 2000 as part the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle route that circles Jerusalem, the capital city.
It connects Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. It has a southern entrance within Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the closest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.
On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin and Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman and hundreds of cyclists attended a ceremony to inaugurate the tunnel’s 2.1-kilometer-long length.
Jerusalem was a desirable tourist destination because of its rich history. Elkin said that today, apart from its historical treasures it also incorporates modern tourists. “The inauguration of this tunnel project [is] another element of the development of Jerusalem. It transforms Jerusalem into an attractive destination for tourists of all types of audience throughout Israel and around the world.”
