The Kerem Tunnel allows for a unique hiking and riding experience. The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s first cycle tunnel, was inaugurated as part of Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycle route is located around Jerusalem.

The tunnel runs through the Nahal-Refaim-Emek-Motza route. The southern entrance is within Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entrance, Nahal Ein Kerem, is about half a kilometer away from the Kerem junction.

The 2.1-kilometer long tunnel was officially opened on Thursday by Jerusalem and heritage minister Ze’ev Elkin and Mayor Moshe Lion. Avi Baleshnikov of Gihon the chairman of Gihon, and hundreds other cyclists were also present.

The project was funded by Elkin’s ministry and the Tourism Ministry. It also included budgets for the Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The project was done by the Jerusalem Development Authority.
