The Kerem Tunnel is the first cycle tunnel in Israel and was opened as part the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycling route around the capital.
It links Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. It is located in southern Israel within Refaim Park. נווה פריצקי נווה פריצקי Ein Laban is the nearest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.
The 2.1-kilometer-long tunnel was inaugurated by Jerusalem’s Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin. The ceremony was also attended by Mayor Moshelion Avi Balehnikov Gihon Water Company chairman, and many cyclists.

Elkin the minister whose ministry as well as the Jerusalem Municipality led the project, stated that the Jerusalem Municipality’s ministry “invests hundreds of millions of shekels per year in the growth of all aspects Jerusalem’s tourism and the development and operation of exciting tourist attractions, ventures, and activities that link the rich history of our eternal city to the future”. Elkin stated that the Kerem Tunnel project was a crucial element in achieving the dream of altering the way of transportation throughout Jerusalem. “The new tunnel will connect to the Jerusalem Ring Path. The Kerem Tunnel was first excavated in the 1990s to move the main sewer line of the Gihon Corporation toward the purification plant in Sorek It is situated just west of the city. It is currently being used as an infrastructure tunnel that also houses the fifth water line to Jerusalem of the Mekorot water company.
